Pirates even WSC mark with win
The VC women's water polo team evened their Western State Conference record at 1-1 with a 12-3 victory over Bakersfield Wednesday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Julia Glukhovsky led the way with five goals, two assists, two steals and two ejections drawn and Abigail Humphry had a pair of scores, three helpers and three thefts. Stevie Sturges tallied three goals with five steals while Parker pratt turned back six shots in the cage and grabbed three steals.

Ventura scored three goals in the opening period and five in the second quarter to hold a commanding 8-0 lead at halftime over the Renegades. Glukhovsky netted four of her scores over the first 16 minutes of play, including three in the second stanza.
Sturges scored two of her three goals in the second half as Ventura posted the 12-3 triumph.
Avery Monson scored a goal with three assists and three steals and Alex Williams also found the inside of the cage for Ventura. Ami Cruz pulled in three thefts and Bella Bruno had four saves in goal with an assist and a steal.
The Pirates will head on the road Friday Oct. 3, taking on Golden West and Cerritos in the Cerritos Mini in Norwalk.
