Women's Polo Advances in WSC Tournament
The VC women's water polo team advanced in the Western State Conference Tournament with an 18-4 victory over Bakersfield Thursday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Abigail Humphry led the way with five goals and five steals while Parker Pratt and Julia Glukhovsky each scored four times for the Pirates. Bella Bruno recorded nine saves in the cage in the game.

After the game was tied at 1-1 with 6:43 remaining in the opening quarter, Ventura scored the next five goals to break the game open before the end of the period. Humphry and Glukhovsky each scored twice in the decisive run.
The Pirates then led 8-2 at halftime and outscored the Renegades 6-0 in the third stanza.
Pratt was the key distributor of the game, handing out five assists and grabbing three steals. Ami Cruz, Allie Costa-Schmitt and Alex Williams each dropped off a pair of helpers and Stevie Sturges was nails defensively with six thefts.
The Pirates, seeded No. 4 in the draw, advance to play No. 1 Santa Barbara on Friday Nov. 7. The opening sprint is scheduled for 12:30 pm at the Ventura Aquatic Center.
