Pirates Compete at SoCal Preview
The VC men's and women's corss country teams ran at the Manny Bautista College Open Friday at the Naval Training Center Park in San Diego Friday, a meet which also served as the Couthern California Preview on the course for November's regional championships. The Pirate men ran 15th of the 23 competing teams while the women, who did not compete in the team competition, were led by Brianna Richards, who ran seventh overall.

Richards led the small contingent of Pirate women, running the 5k course in 19:05. Natalie Kreil ran 24:43 to place 135th of the 181 runners and Dulce Quezada crossed the finish line in 28:29 in 166th place. Andrea Rizo ran the course in 35:49 to come in 178th.
The men totaled 425 points to place 15th aof the 23 teams competing in the event. They finished just behind Western State Conference foe Allan Hancock, who came in 12th, and ahead of Moorpark (19th) and Oxnard (20th).
Henry Fulk led the VC effort, running the 4-mile trek in 21:46 to finish 38th and Marcelo Mendoza was 82nd at 22:43. Aiden Plew broke the tape in 23:26 to place 111th and Nathan Lopez ran 23:42, coming in 118th. Carmelo Betanzos and Julian Arenas placed 128th and 129th, respectively, posting times of 23:50 and 23:51. Julian Pachon wa 147th of the 196 competitors in 24:26and AJ Guerra ran 26:33 to finish in 170th.
Ventura's men and women will next run at the WSC Championships on Friday Oct. 24 at Moorpark College.
