Beach VB Drops Close Decision to SBCC, Defeats BC
The Pirates' beach volleyball team made its final appearance of the season at the Ventura Harbor Cove Courts Friday, narrowly falling to Santa Barbara before defeating Bakersfield in Western State Conference play. VC's Nos. 1 and 2 pairs of Shai Daniels and Viola Barrios, and Sadie Lishman and Jocelyn Alfar each won a pair of matches on the day to lead Ventura (13-5, 6-4).

VC's Nos. 1 and 2 pairs of Shai Daniels and Viola Barrios, and Sadie Lishman and Jocelyn Alfar each won a pair of matches on the day to lead Ventura (13-5, 6-4).
Ventura fought to the end against the Vaqueros in Friday's opener, falling 3-2. Daniels and Barrios took their No. 1 match 21-15, 21-13 while Lishman and Alfar swept Court 2 against SBCC, 22-20 and 21-12.
VC's No. 4 pair of Madison Mierau and Beira Boyso fell in the first set of their contest, 21-14 before coming back to claim a 21-16 win in set 2. In the decisive third set, VC held a 14-12 advantage, but could not put away their opponents, falling 17-15 to drop their match 2-1. Santa Barbara won COurts 3 and 5 to claim the narrow victory over the Pirates.
Ventura bounced back against the Renegades to post a 4-1 triumph. Daniels and Barrios once again dominated with a 21-11, 21-14 win on Court 1 and Lishman and Alfar claimed the No. 2 match, 21-11, 21-16. Addison Olson and Monaye Ramessar won in the No. 3 slot 21-11, 21-18 while Mierau and Boyso claimed a 21-14, 21-11 win on Court 4.
The Pirates will finish the regular season on Friday Apr. 10 traveling to Moorpark to play Glendale and Santa Monica.
