Pirate Football Back in SCFA Playoffs
On the heels on an impressive 9-1 campaign marred only by a last-second defeat in the season finale, the Ventura College football team is back in the Southern California Fooball Association playoffs beginning Nov. 22. The Pirates (9-1) are seeded No. 4 in the region and will host No. 5 Cerritos (8-2) in a 5:00 pm contest at the VC Sportsplex.

State Football Playoffs Bracket
On the heels on an impressive 9-1 campaign marred only by a last-second defeat in the season finale, the Ventura College football team is back in the Southern California Football Association playoffs beginning Nov. 22. The Pirates (9-1) are seeded No. 4 in the region and will host No. 5 Cerritos (8-2) in a 5:00 pm contest at the VC Sportsplex.
This will be the ninth time VC has qualified for the SCFA playoffs under head coach Steve Mooshagian since 2012, the 14th straight season with a post-season (playoff or bowl) appearance. Ventura has twice advanced to the SCFA championship game in 2018 and 2021. The Pirates won the 2018 regional title, finishing as the state runner-up after narrowly falling in the 3C2A State Championship Game. Ventura also appeared in the 1999 Southern California Championship Game under the direction of current VC assistant coach Terry Morris before the inception of the SCFA.
The Pirates come into the game at 9-1 on the season, the co-champions of the National Northern Conference in the SCFA with No. 3-seeded Mt. San Antonio. The Mounties gave VC their only defeat of the season last week with a last-second score, 55-54. Meanwhile, Cerritos is 8-2, having finished second in the National Central Conference, with their only conference setback against No. 1-seeded Golden West. The teams are each 4-1 against common opponents in 2025, with both squads defeating Fullerton, Bakersfield, Moorpark and Santa Barbara. East team also fell to Mt. SAC.
Tickets for the game on Saturday Nov. 22 are on sale through the 3C2A's HomeTown Ticketing, (Follow link). Admission, set by the state, is $13 for adults and $9 for seniors, students and children. No cash will be accepted at the gate, and no passes will be honored except CCCFCA, CCCADA and 3C2A passes.
