Explosive Second Quarter Leads to VC Victory over Irvine
The VC flag football team scored four touchdowns in the second quarter en route to a 51-34 victory over Irvine Valley Monday at the Sportsplex. Ava Ortman had seven passing touchdowns in the game, four to Honest Watson, to lead the effort. Smitty Smith, Sienna Angell and Analysia Brewer also caught scoring strikes from Ortman while Smith also had a touchdown pass to Alyssa Ballesteros for the Pirates (8-2).

Watson began the game with an interception that led to a long touchdown reception by Smith on a pass from Ortman. Sami Nava picked off another Laser pass and Angell chased it in with a leaping grab in the endzone on another toss from Ortman.
In the second quarter, the Pirates found paydirt four times. Ballesteros began the scoring spree with a reception of a pass from Smith. Ortman then hit Watson three times in the period for scores, the final a short pass and a long run in which Watson ran through contact to get into the end zone. Watson and Nava each recorded Oskies in the period.
Ortman hit Watson for another score in the third quarter and Analysia Brewer closed out the scoring with a touchdown catch in the fourth.
Ventura next travels to Norco College on Tuesday Mar. 31 to take on the Mustangs.
