Ventura College sophomore guard Elijah Brown was named the Western State Conference North Division Men's Basketball Player of the Year, while VC head coach Joey Ramirez shared the WSC North Coach of the Year award in voting by conference coaches last weekend.
All-State Ventura College guard Elijah Brown has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic careers at Cal State university San Bernardino next year.
Pirate basketball sophomore Elijah Brown has been named first-team All-State by the California Community College Men's Basketball Coaches Association. The Western State Conference MVP was one of just 11 players from Southern California to receive the honor voted on by state coaches.

VC was up for a tough test from the Condors, but prevailed with a 86-81 victory to earn their share of the Western State Conference North title. Jalon Wilson scored 20 points with Elijah Brown adding 20 points and Jacob Alonzo putting up 11 points.

With a 109-63 win for the Pirates over Santa Barbara, VC positioned itself for a potential conference title. VC stayed right in the race with a come from behind 80-70 road win over Allan Hancock. Elijah Brown topped the Pirates with 31 points as he continues his outstanding season. Cordel Hankerson added 14 second half points to help the Pirates rally for the win.
Returning to their home court the Ventura College men's basketball team collected a 76-68 victory over visiting LA Pierce. Elijah Brown topped the Pirates with 15 points and added in seven rebounds to go with six assists. Steven Bush returned from injury to put up 11 points. Trevor LaCount and Jalon Wilson both added in ten points with Wilso dishing out five assists.
Ventura College men's basketball team climbed to a So Cal No. 12 ranking following a big win over previously undefeated Cuesta. Taking on rival and So Cal No. 15 ranked Moorpark College the Pirates were unable to hold off a late Raider rally falling 73-70. Elijah Brown topped VC with 18 points, Trevor LaCount added 15 points and seven rebounds with Cordel Hankerson adding 13 points.
Ventura College men's basketball went on the road to San Luis Obispo and brought home a vitally important Western State Conference North win defeating Cuesta College 82-76. Four different Pirates scored in double digits topped by Elijah Brown with 34 points. Jalon Wilson and Jacob Alonzo both scored 12 points while Jamal Lewis added 11 points.
So Cal No. 15-ranked Ventura College men's basketball team played host to rival Oxnard College and picked up a big 89-78 Western State Conference North win. Closing out the first trip through WSC play the win puts the Pirates right in the thick of the title race with six games to go. Steven Bush topped the Pirates with 21 points on seven 3-pointers. Elijah Brown remained hot with 17 points and seven assists. Trevor LaCount added 12 points of his own.
Traveling to Santa Barbara the Ventura College men's basketball team rode the shoulders of a pair of offensive performances to pick up a come from behind 96-91 victory. Elijah Brown who has twice gone for 30+ points this year went off from the field and dropped a career high 43 points in the win. Trevor LaCount added 22 points of his own. The pair accounted for 65 of the Pirates 96 total points.
Ventura College men's basketball went on a tear offensively putting up triple digits in a 100-86 over visiting Allan Hancock College. Ventura has been in the 90 point range in four games this season, but this was the first time they reached triple digits for the 2015-16 campaign. The win was a combined team effort and sets the Pirates up for their final two games in the first trip through conference.
Coming off a pair of tough defeats to ranked opponents to open Western State Conference North play the Ventura College men's basketball team rebounded to down Los Angeles Pierce 95-90. Jamal Lewis topped the Pirates offense with 19 points. Jacob Alonzo followed close behind him scoring 18 in the win.
In a battle of ranked teams the So Cal No. 15-ranked Ventura College men's basketball team traveled to face off with So Cal No. 8-ranked Moorpark College and fell 84-79. VC star Elijah Brown poured in 31 points for the game, his second 30+ point performance of the season while pulling down six rebounds and dishing out three assists.
