Pirate Golf Headed to 3C2A State Championships
The Pirate golf team got off to a solid start Monday at the Southern California Regional Championships and held on to post a 367-377, 744 to finish fifth overall and earn a cherished team spot at next week's 3C2A State Championships. Sophomore Daniel Darwin led the squad with a 1-under 71-72, 143, tying for third place overall, and Matthew Fisher carded a 69-75, for an even-par 144, placing in a tie for fifth.

Logan Gonzalez posted a 76-74, 150 for the Pirates, followed by Ian Chapital, 76-76, 152, Nick Bublitz, 75-80, 155, and Brandon Flores, DQ-80.
The Pirates score of 367 in the morning round placed third in the team standings, behind Canyons (357) and Mt. San Antonio (363). Santa Barbara posted a low round of 361 in the afternoon to take second overall (368-361, 729) and Desert shot a 363 in the afternoon to claim third (376-363, 739). Orange Coast came in fourth overall (369-373, 742), ahead of Ventura (367-377, 744).
VC claimed the fifth and final team spot to qualify for next week's state finals at Bayonet Black Horse Golf Club near Monterey. It will be the Pirates' first team appearance at the state championships since 2022 and the 12th appearance for VC since 1969.
