The Ventura College golf team placed fifth of nine competing teams at the 3C2A State Championships Sunday and Monday at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside on Monterey Bay. The Pirates, who were third after the first round Sunday, posted a total score of 788 (391, 397) to finish fifth, three shots behind Santa Barbara and two shots ahead of Orange Coast. Logan Gonzalez carded a 77-78, 155 to tie for 17th place overall to lead VC in the 2025 season finale.
The Pirate golf team got off to a solid start Monday at the Southern California Regional Championships and held on to post a 367-377, 744 to finish fifth overall and earn a cherished team spot at next week's 3C2A State Championships. Sophomore Daniel Darwin led the squad with a 1-under 71-72, 143, tying for third place overall, and Matthew Fisher carded a 69-75, for an even-par 144, placing in a tie for fifth.
The VC golf team posted a team score of 372-363, 735 Monday at Crystalaire Country Club in Llano to place thrid overall in the 36-hole Western State Conference Championships. Brandon Flores shot a 73-69, 142 to finish two under par on the day to lead Ventura while Ian Chapital shot 73-71, for an even par 144. Including the two rounds, the Pirates finished second in the conference standings, advancing to the 3C2A Southern California Regionals on Monday May 5.
The Ventura College golf team finished in third after dropping a tiebreaker with Santa Barbara in the Western State Conference No. 9 match hosted by College of the Canyons at Ojai's Soule Park Golf Course. The Pirates and Vaqueros posted identical team scores of 384, but SBCC had the better sixth-player score to push VC to third. Brandon Flores shot a 1-over 73 to tie for fourth and Daniel Darwin carded a 75 to finish in a tie for seventh.

Ventura won the tiebreaker overthe Vaqueros to finish second of the eight WSC teams competing. Matthew Fisher led VC with a 1-under 71, good for a tie for fifth, individually. Logan Gonzalez shot an even-par 72 to help the Pirate effort.

The mark was good for a second place finish in the Western State Conference No. 7 match. Logan Gonzalez was the low man for the Pirates with an outstanding 1-under 71 on the day, tying for third overall.

VC posted a team score of 393 for their second place finish, led by 4-under 76's from Mathew Fisher and Logan Gonzalez. The pair sinished in a tie for third individually.

VC defeated second place Canyons by four strokes on the day and Santa Barbara was third, nine strokes back. Dan Darwin, Matthew Fisher and Ian Chapital all carded a 3-over 75 to lead the way in the victory.
The VC golf team opened the 2025 season at the two-day, 36-hole Pt. Conception Open at La Purisma Golf Club in Lompoc Sunday and Monday. The Pirates totaled a team score of 406/402, 808 to claim second place of the 13 competing teams with Logan Gonzalez posting a 75/79, 154 to tie for fourth place overall with his 3-over score in difficult conditions on Sunday placing him first individually in the opening round. Nick Bublitz also earned a Top-10 finish with his 79/79, 158.
