Pirate Golf 5th at WSC event hosted by Citrus

The Pirate golf team competed at the Western State Conference event at Marshall Canyon Golf Course in LaVerne Monday, hosted by Citrus College. Led by a pair of 3-over 74's from Freddie Carcamo and Matthew Jones, Ventura finished fifth in the field of eight teams in the tightly-bunched contest.

VC posted a team score of 304 on the day, just 11 shots shy of first place Canyons at 293. Unfortunately Santa Barbara (295), Citrus and Glendale (298) finished ahead of the Pirates resulting the the fifth-place ranking.

Carcamo and Jones each carded a 3-over 74 for VC to tie for sixth place individually. Donovan Chappell followed with a 6-over 77 and Stephen Ong carded a 79. Nathan Schultz produced an 81 and Bradley Humphrey shot 82.

The Pirates return to the links on Monday Apr. 20 at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai in the final WSC event before the conference championships.
