The Pirates' men's tennis team continued play in the CCCAA State singles and Doubles Championships Friday in The Ojai Tournament. Priyank Soni made it through to the quarterfinals to be held Saturday April 28 while the doubles team of Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan also moved through the draw to the quarterfinals.

Men's Tennis Competes in State at The Ojai

The Pirates' men's tennis team began its final weekend of the season Thursday with five singles players and three doubles teams moving on to day two of the CCCAA State Singles and Doubles Championships at The Ojai. Victories included upset victoies by Rafael Dunan, Augustin Lestelle and Priyank Soni in singles play while Alexander Martin and Jakob Runschen had an upset win in doubles.

Me's Tennis Team Season Comes to and End at No. 1 Cerritos

The Pirates' men's tennis team had its playoff run come to a halt Saturday afternoon as the No. 2-seeded Pirates were swept by No. 1 Cerritos, 5-0. Although the Pirates won more games against the Falcons than they did in their March 9 meeting, The Falcons proved once again to be too much for the Pirates (14-2) one step shy of the state championship match.

VC freshman Solal Cherqui was a double winner in Tuesday's regional semifinal, winning in No. 3 doubles with Rafael Dunan, and winning in No. 1 singles. VC defeated Riverside 5-1 to advance to the regional finals on Saturday at Cerritos.
Ventura Blows Past Riverside Into Regional Finals

In the playoffs, the mantra is survive and advance. The No. 2-seeded Pirates' men's tennis team added some style points Tuesday, easily defeating No. 3 Riverside City College 5-1 in the CCCAA SoCal Regional Semifinals at the VC Tennis Center. Solal Cherqui was a double winner in No. 1 singles and with Rafael Dunan in No. 3 doubles while Priyank Soni also earned two points for Ventura (14-1), claiming victory in No. 2 singles and with Adrien Etiemble in No. 1 doubles. Rodrigo Perdigao's win in No. 6 singles clinched the match.

Soni Captures WSC Singles Title, Just Misses Doubles With Etiemble

VC men's tennis freshman Priyank Soni had quite the day Friday. After a WSC semifinal victory over doubles teammate Adrien Etiemble, he then defeated teammate Cherqui Solal to earn the conference championship in the singles draw. If battling two teammates in two singles matches was not enough, Soni then teammed up with Etiemble in the WSC doubles championship, dropping a marathon contest with multiple match points for both sides.

VC freshman Rafael Dunan earned a point with doubles partner Solal Cherqui, then clinched the Pirates' SoCal quarterfinal playoff match with a win at No. 5 singles Tuesday against visiting Saddleback.
Pirates Sweep Past Saddleback in Playoff Opener

The Ventura College men's tennis team had little trouble with visiting Saddleback Tuesday i nthe quarterfinal round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs, sweeping the Gauchos 5-0 at the VC Tennis Center. The No. 2-seeded Pirates swept through the three doubles matches before winning in Nos. 3 and 5 singles matches, respectively, to advance to the next round.

The Pirates' men's tennis team continued their strong play Saturday at the Western State Conference Singles and Doubles Championships at the VC Tennis Center. Ventura qualified six players for the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai in singles while placing three players in the WSC semifinals. Meanwhile, VC also advanced three doubles pairs to the semifinals with another duo also in contention for The Ojai.

VC sophomore Augustin Lestelle advanced to the WSC singles Round of 16 with a shutout win on Friday. He also teamed with doubles partner Rodrigo Perdigao to advance to the conference quarterfinals.
Pirate Men Dominate First Day of WSC Championships

The Pirates' men's tennis team dominated the first day of the Western State Conference Championships with six players advancing to the round of 16 and four doubles teams moving on to the quarterfinals. In singles, top-seed Solal Cherqui, No. 6-seed Priyank Soni, No. 7-seed Adrien Etiemble and No. 10-seed Augustin Lestelle all advanced to the round of 16 without dropping a game. Meanwhile, in doubles, No. 1-seed Soni and Etiemble moved to the quarters without playing a match and No. 3-seed Cherqui and Rafael Dunan advanced with a shutout.

The Pirates' men's tennis team took their regular season finale in El Cajon Friday 8-1 over host Grossmont College. The Pirates' depth shone through once again with the biggest victories coming at the bottom of the ladder. Rafael Dunan won in No. 5 singles one and love while Rodrigo Perdigao claimed his No. 6 singles match two and love. Alexander Martin and Jakon Rinschen teamed up for an easy win at No. 2 doubles while Dunan paired with Priyank Soni to win in No. 3.

Men's Tennis Completes Undefeated Conference Season

The Pirates' men's tennis team completed yet another undefeated Western State Conference season Tuesday with a 9-0 shutout victory over visiting Bakersfield College. Adrien Tiemble, Rodrigo Perdigao and Alexander Martin all won in singles without giving up a game. Meanwhile, Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan, and Martin and Jakob Rinchen won in shutout fashion in doubles for Ventura (11-1, 8-0).

Solal Cherqui won his No 1 singles match 6-1, 6-3 as VC swept Santa Barbara 9-0 to remain undefeated Thursday afternoon.
Pirate Tennis Makes It Six Straight WSC Matches

The VC Men's tennis team made it six straight sweeping victories in conference play Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 triumph over Santa Barbara City College at Pershing Park. Alexander Martin posted a love love victory at No. 6 singles, and Augustin Lestelle and Rodrigo Perdigao blanked their opponents in No. 3 doubles.The victory maintains the Pirates' perfect mark at 9-0 and runs their Western State Conference mark to 6-0.

VC Continues WSC Dominance WIth Sweep

The Ventura College men's tennis team posted their fifth straight sweep in Western State Conference play Tuesday afternoon, defeating Glendale 9-0 at the VC Tennis Center. The Prates (8-0, 5-0) remained undefeated on the season with the win. Solal Cherqui (No. 1), Augustin Lestelle (No. 4) and Rodrigo Perdigoa (No. 6) all won their singles matches love and love. Lestelle and Perdigao also teamed up for an 8-0 victory in No. 3 doubles.
