Men's Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team; Eight Are Scholar-Athletes
The Ventura College men's tennis team continued its tradition of academic excellence as it was once again named an All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The VC men were one of 12 community college teams from across the country, one of three from California, to receive the honor. Additionally, eight Pirates were named Scholar-Athletes by the ITA.

"The Intercollegiate Tennis Association ("ITA") is proud to announce the 2026 Junior College Men's ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams," the association's press release said.
"Academia is an integral aspect of the college tennis experience and adds to the unique student-athlete experience found on college campuses across the nation. Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court."
Meanwhile, eight Pirates were honored for individual academic achievement by the ITA. Sophomores Ariitea Cotti-Helme, Yanis Guerrout, Yusen Sato and Manolo Vanbesien, along with freshmen Abladj Mondroha, Christian Montecino, Shingo Ono and Victor Peyrebonne all were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their exemplary work in the classroom this past academic year. A total of 82 men's tennis players are listed on the ITA's community college Scholar-Athlete list, including 30 from California.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale) while all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year. Scholar Athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
Ventura ended the team season with a 14-0 overall record and a 10-4 mark against California Community College teams. Mondroha, Peyrebonne, Sato and Cotti-Helme all advanced to the 3C2A State Championships at The Ojai Tournament in singles while Mondroha and doubles partner Caua Coimbra, and Peyrebonne and Ono made it to state in doubles. Mondroha and Coimbra were the 3C2A State Runners-Up in doubles competition.
