Pirate Softball Bows Out of SoCal Regionals

The VC softball team put up a fight Saturday, but did not have enough to extend their season in a 3-0 defeat at Cypress in Game 2 of their best-of-three series with the Chargers. Baylany Magana had an admirable performance in the circle for the No. 15-seeded Pirates, allowing three runs on five hits through seven complete innings. She also had on of Ventura's five hits in the game against No. 2 Cypress.

The VC softball team dropped Game `1 of its Best of 3 playoff series at Cypress Friday afternoon, 9-1. Savanna Higgins had a pair of hits and scored the Pirates' lone run and Alyssa Castaneda provided the only RBI of the day for Ventura. The Pirates were limited to three hits on the day by Charger pitching.

Savanna Higgins and Alyssa Castaneda each hit home runs while Madison Shay also knocked in a pair of runs Tuesday at the Pirate softball team defeated Chaffey 6-3 in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Play-In Round at the VC Softball Complex. Pirates Complete Turnaround, Capture WSC Crown

The Pirate softball team completed a remarkable turnaround from a year ago and captured the Western State Conference North Division championship with a 7-3 victory at Hancock Tuesday. Ventura, who posted a 7-26 record a year ago and 5-9 mark in WSC play, completed the regular season at 26-8 and 12-2, respectively, to win the 13th WSC title in program history dating back to 1981.

Baylany Magana Dominant as VC Moves Closer to Crown

Ventura College pitcher Baylany Magana gave up one hit and struck out five Thursday in the Pirates' 4-0 shutout victory over Cuesta at the VC Softball Complex. The freshman also had a hit, knocked in a run, and scored once to lead the team to a two-game lead in the conference standings wit three games remaining in the regular season. Alyssa Castaneda knocked out three hits and scored a run and Jennie Jacinto recorded one hit with an RBI.

Softball Takes Control of WSC North

The VC softball team earned some redemption Monday with an 11-1 victory at Santa barbara, atoning for lossto the Vaqueros earlier this season. Erika Sanchez recorded three runs batted in with a hit and a pair of walks to lead the effort while Aubrey Aguirre scored twice in the game. Savanna Higgins had a pair of singles with a run scored. With the win, the Pirates moved two games ahead of the field with four remaining in the Western State Conference race.

Pirates Back on Track with 10-0 Win

Alyssa Castaneda homered and the Pirates softball team exploded for nine runs in the top of the fifth to win by a 10-0 run-rule decision at Cuesta Tuesday afternoon. Baylany Magana, Aubrey Aguirre and Castaneda each totaled a pair of hits for VC while Castaneda, Dakota Moore and Erika Sanchez all had two runs batted in on the day. The victory ended a three-game losing streak for Ventura, who moved to 14-6 on the year and 3-1 in Western State Conference play.

The Pirate softball team opened Western State Conference North Division play Thursday with an 18-3 run-rule victory over visiting Santa Monica. Madison Shay had a home run and a single with two runs batted in while scoring twice to lead the way for VC (12-3, 1-0). Bryanne Magana knocked out two doubles and a single and scored three runs and Baylany Magana recorded a pair of hits with two RBI and two runs scored. Lily Jimenez pitched a complete game to pick up the win in the circle.

The VC softball team returned home for the first time in a month in style, sweeping past Victor Valley in a pair of five-inning games. The Pirates scored 27 runs on 23 hits on the day, led by Jennie Jacinto with five hits, including a double, and six runs batted in. Madison Shay had three hits, including a home run and a double, and seven RBI in the two games. Baylany Magana, Aubrey Aguirre, Lily Jimenez and Bryanne Magana shared pitching duties for Ventura.

The VC softball team split a pair of games Tuesday in Menifee, defeating Imperial Valley 13-6 before falling in extra innings to host Mt.San Jacinto, 5-4. Shortstop Madison Shay was 4-5 at the plate in the first game, including a double and a triple, with three runs batted in and a run scored. Lily Jimenez pitched into the fifth inning, allowing six runs, three earned, to pick up the win for the Pirates.

Pirate Softball Opens 3-1 at Glendale Tournament

The VC softball tem opened the 2025 season with a strong 3-1 record at the David "Hawk" Wilder Memorial Tournament in Glendale Friday and Saturday. The Pirates defeated LA Valley, Modesto and Cerro Coso while dropping a 1-0 decision to San Diego Mesa. Bryanne Magana led the offense with eight hits and five runs batted in in the four games and Jennie Jacinto recorded five hits and seven RBI. Baylany Magana started all four games in the pitcher's circle for the Pirates.
