Basketball Returns to VC Sept. 17 & 18 with Ventura Jamboree

Basketball is back!  The 2016-17 women's basketball season tips off this weekend at the Ventura College Athletic Event Center  with the 2016 Ventura Jamboree. The event, which features 33 CCCAA teams in 62 games on three courts, begins at 8:45am Saturday Sept. 17 and concludes with the final games tipping off at 6:30 pm Sunday.  The Pirates will open at 4:20 pm in the main gym Court 2 against Rio Hondo.

The Jamboree is a pre-season event, technically a non-traditional season event per CCCAA guidelines, in which teams can play two scrimmage games per day for two days.  The Pirates will be hosting 33 teams from throughout Southern and Northern California for 62 games on three courts through 24 hours of play on Saturday and Sunday.  Games begin both days at 8:45 am and will continue throughout the day, with the final games scheduled to begin at 7:45 pm Saturday and 6:30 pm Sunday.

The new-look Pirates will play at 4:20pm and 7:45 pm Saturday against Rio Hondo and San Diego City colleges.  VC takes on Santa Monica in its lone appearance on Sunday at 3:15 pm.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to help cover costs of the event.
