Edelhart, Gallick Earn CCCWBCA All-State Nods

Ventura College sophomores Kenya Edelhart and Kylie Gallick have each been named All-State for the 2022-23 season by the California Community College Women's Basketball Association, marking the 15th time that two Pirates have been honored as All-State selections. Both players were named third team All-State for the Pirates.

Edelhart became the 15th player in program history to earn two All-State selections with her performance in 2022-23. The Lancaster High School product scored 13.9 points per game while handing out 3.7 assists and grabbing 1.6 steals per outing, playing in and starting in 26 of VC's 29 games this season. She shot 46.9/40.9/67.9 (FG/3FG/FT) for the year and also pulled in 3.7 rebounds a game. She scored in double figures 25 of 26 games, and became the 20th player in team annals to record a 30-point game with her 30-point performance at Los Angeles Valley on Dec. 9. She had a career-high nine assists on Jan. 4 at Oxnard and pulled in a season-best six boards on four different occasions. Her career-high six-steal games came against Cuesta on Jan. 7 and at LA Pierce Jan. 14.

Gallick was a double-double machine for the Pirates in '23, averaging 16.0 and 14.7 in points and rebounds, respectively. She posted 20 double-doubles in 28 games, The Buena High School product had the team's first-ever 30-20 double-double with a 32-point, 21 board performance against Santa Barbara Feb. 11. Becoming the 21st player in team history to post a 30-point game. She scored in double-figures 25 times during the year and pulled in double-figure rebound totals 22 times. Gallick posted the fourth-best rebound total in school history with her 23 caroms against Skyline on Nov. 11 and became the 25th player since 1990 to grab 15 rebounds in a game, doing that 11 times this season. She also was seventh in the state in field goal percentage at 56.0 and made 74.1 percent of her free throws.

The Pirates completed the season with a 20-9 overall record for the 31st time in the past 32 seasons and advanced to the second round of this year's Southern California Regional Playoffs.
