Ventura Wins Third Straight 8-1 Over AVC
The Ventura College women's tennis team won its third straight contest Thursday, defeating Antelope Valley 8-1 at the VC Tennis Center. Dulce Contreras helped lead the way with a win in No. 2 doubles with Isabella DeRosa and a victory in No. 3 singles.
The Ventura College women's tennis team won its third straight contest Thursday, defeating Antelope Valley 8-1 at the VC Tennis Center. Dulce Contreras helped lead the way with a win in No. 2 doubles with Isabella DeRosa and a victory in No. 3 singles.
Kira Branson and Chandra Padua got the day off to a strong start for the Pirates with an 8-0 win in No. 1 doubles. Contreras and DeRosa followed in the No. 2 match by the same score before Sherry Bonilla and Adrianna Padilla posted an 8-3 victory in No. 3 doubles.
Padua was first to finish in singles, winning the No. 2 slot one and love. Branson followed with another 6-1, 6-0 triumph in No. 1 singles and Contreras posted a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 3 match. DeRosa claimed a 6-0, 6-2 victory in No. 4 singles and Isabella Avila won her No. 5 singles contest 6-3, 6-1. Ella Morgan had the Pirates lone setback of the day, but was razor-close to completing the sweep with a third-set tiebreaker loss in No. 6 singles.
The Pirates (4-1, 3-1) continue Western State Conference play on Tuesday Feb. 17 at Santa Barbara.
