Women's Tennis Falls to Santa Barbara

The VC women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Santa Barbara Tuesday at the VC Tennis Center. Kira Branson, Dulce Contreras and Isabella DeRosa all earned points for the Pirates in singles play.

The Pirates dropped all three doubles matches with Chandra Padua and Dulce Contreras falling in the No. 1 slot, 8-4.

The Vaqueros clinched the match with wins in Nos. 2 and 5 singles, respectively, and Adrianna Padilla battled to a 6-4, 6-4 loss on Court 6. Ventura continued the fight, however, winning the last three decisions of the day. Contreras posted a 6-3, 6-4 win on Court 3 and DeRosa outlasted her opponent in No. 4 singles, coming from behind, 2-6, 6-4, 10-6. Branson completed the day with a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 win in the premier match.

VC (8-6, 6-6) will next travel to Santa Clarita on Thursday Mar. 19 to take on College of the Canyons.
