Pirate women headed back to the playoffs
The VC women's tennis team is headed back to the playoffs. VC has earned the No. 7 seed and will travel to No. 2 Orange Coast on Tuesday Apr. 7 in the opening round of the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs. Led by state qualifying singles player Kira Branson and three state-bound doubles teams, the Pirates of VC will take on the Pirates of OCC beginning at 2:00 pm in Costa Mesa.

Ventura finished the regular season at 8-8 in dual matches. Their 6-8 mark in Western State Conference play placed them fourth in the strongest conference in the region. VC is joined by LA Mission, Santa Barbara and Canyons in the eight-team draw.
Orange Coast enters the playoffs with a record of 20-1 overall and 8-0 in Orange Empire play. Their only loss is to WSC champion and top-seed LA Mission.
This will be the third post-season appearance for Ventura in the past four seasons under head coach Nelson Emery.
The winner of Tuesday's contest will face the winner of No. 3 Santa Barbara and No. 6 San Diego City on Tuesday Apr. 14.
