Women's water polo utility player Raylynn Lipsky leads four Pirates on the first team All-Western State Conference team for the 2018 season. Lipsky, who also earned second team All-Southern California honors, is joined on the first team All-WSC list by goalie Shayle Barrus, center Cali Iadevaia and attacker Drew Reyes. Five other Pirates earned second team or honorable mention all-conference awards.
The VC women's water polo team had its season come to an end Thursday in the first round of the SoCal Regional Tournament in Cerritos. Despite a strong effort, the No. 10-seeded Pirates fell to No. 7 Cypress 16-13. Cali Iadevaia led Ventura (14-13) with seven goals and an assist while Drew Reyes netted three scores and two helpers in the game.
The Pirates' women's water polo team had a three-goal run late in the third and early in the fourth periods and hung on down the stretch to defeat Cuesta 9-8 Friday in the semifinals of the Western State Conference Tournament in Santa Monica. Chloe Golden had a goal and three assists, including the go-ahead score in the third quarter, to lead the No. 3-seed Ventura (14-11, 6-2) past the No. 2-seeded Cougars.
The Ventura College women's water polo team advanced to the Western State Conference Tournament semifinals with a 16-4 quarterfinal victory over LA Pierce Wednesday at the Ventura Aquatic Center. Drew Reyes led the way with four goals and two assists while Elizabeth Arlington and Cali Iadevaia each scored three goals for VC (13-11, 5-2).
The Pirates' women's water polo team split their final two games of the Battle at the Beach at Cypress College Saturday. VC (12-11, 4-2) defeated Cerritos 10-4 in the morning game before faltering in the second half of a 13-8 loss to host Cypress. Raylynn Lipsky had four goals, six assists, five steals and a drawn exclusion in the two games while Shayne Naylor netted three scores with a pair of assists and two drawn exclusions.

The Ventura College women's water polo team used a strong third quarter to defeat visiting Citrus College 9-7 Wednesday afternoon at the Ventura Aquatic Center. The victory wraps up the No. 3 seed for the Pirates (10-9, 4-2) in the upcoming Western State Conference tournament. Cali Iadevaia led VC with three goals while Drew Reyes and Annie Magno each scored twice.
Wrapping up the annual Ventura Tournament on Saturday, the VC women's water polo team defeated El Camino 14-2 before falling to Fullerton 14-5 at the Ventur Aquatic Center. Shayle Barrus scored five goals on the day with a pair of assists and two drawn exclusions, in addition to recording eight saves in three quarters of play in goal. Shayne Naylor had four scores in the two games for Ventura (8-8, 2-1) with a pair of assists and two drawn exclusions.
The Ventura College women's water polo team traveled to the San Diego Tournament hosted at Miramar College on Friday and Saturday, falling to some of the top programs in the state before finishing up the weekend with a 9-8 victory over Palomar College. Cali Iadevaia netted four goals to lead VC (5-3, 1-1) while Raylynn Lipsky scored three times. Chloe Golden had three assists and Shayle Barrus had eight saves in goal.
In a close, hard-fought battle at the Ventura Aquatic Center, the Pirates' women's water polo team came back from a three goal deficit midway through the third quarter to defeat visiting LA Valley College, 10-9. Chloe Golden scored the game-winner with 14 seconds remaining to send Ventura to its fourth straight victory to open the season under new interim head coach Linda Wright. Cali Iadevaia had six goals to lead VC in the victory.
