Torres, Ramirez, Run at 3C2A State XC Championships

Ventura's Brianna Torres and Kevin Ramirez ran in the 3C2A State Women's and Men's Cross Country Championships, respectively, on Saturday at Fresno's Woodward Park. Torres finished 17th overall and Ramirez crossed the finish line in 148th.

Torres, Ramirez Qualify for State Cross Country

VC sophomore Brianna Torres finished 11th in the women's SoCal Regional race Friday, and Kevin Ramirez led the Pirates' men's team in 58th overall, as both qualified for the 3C2A State Championships to be held Nov. 23 in Fresno. The VC men's team finished 18th out of 26 cometing teams overall, but did not qualify for state as a group.

Men's XC, Torres Qualify for SoCal Regionals

The Pirates' men's cross country team finished fifth Friday at the Western State Conference Championships at Oxnard College to qualify for the SoCal Regionals as a team. Kevin Ramirez and Jonah Sloan led the way in 21st and 24th place overall, respectively, for Ventura, earning second team All-WSC honors. Mesnwhile, Brianna Torres came in fifth in the women's race to earn first team All-WSC accolates and an individual trip to the regionals in two weeks.

VC's Kevin Ramirez (1631), Carlos Oragel (1630) and Nathaniel Lopez all helped the Pirates' men's cross country team to a 16th place finish out of 34 teams at the SoCal Preview at Chaffey College.
Pirate Harriers Run at Rescheduled SoCal Preview

The VC men's and women's cross country teams competed Friday at the Southern California Preview Meet at Chaffey College rescheduled from Sept. 20. The Pirate men placed 16th overall of 24 competing teams and the women did not field a complete team for the team competition. Brianna Torres once again was the top woman for Ventura, placing 10th, while Kevin Ramirez came in 60th to pace the VC men.

Pirate Cross Country Previews State Course in Fresno

The VC men's and women's cross country teams previewed the 3C2A State Championship course in Fresno Saturday morning at the Seawolf Invitational hosted by Sonoma State University. Competing against mostly NCAA Division II athletes, Brianna Torres finished 27th of 74 runners while Jonah Sloan paced the Ventura men in 37th place out of 85 competitors.

Pirate Harriers Open 2024 With Home Invitational

The Pirates' men's and women's cross country teams opened their 2024 seasons Friday hosting the Ventura Invitational at Arroyo Verde Park. Sophomore Brianna Torres, an All-Western State Conference performer a year ago, led the Pirate women with a runner-up finish while newcomer Jonah Sloan led the Ventura men finishing 15th overall. VC's men's team finished third in the team competition among the six competing teams while the women did not run enough athletes for the team standings.
