Pirate tennis freshman Solal Cherqui has signed a scholarship to continue his academic and athletic careers at NCAA Division II St. Leo University in Florida. Cherqui, who hails from Paris, France, was VC's No. 1 singles player in 2018, posting an overall record of 16-5, 10-3 in dual competition. He also was 14-5 in double play with partner Rafael Dunan.
The Pirates' men's tennis team dominated the All-Western State Conference selections as voted upon by the conference coaches. In awards announced last month, VC occupied all six first team positions in singles, sharing one, and was honored with all three first team positions in doubles. Additionally, Solal Cherqui was named the WSC Player of the Year and Pirate head coach Nelson Emery was named the Coach of the Year.
The Ventura College men's tennis season came to an end Saturday in the quarterfinal round of the CCCAA State Singles and Doubles Championships at The Ojai Tournament. Priyank Soni dropped his quarterfinal match against the No. 1 seed in the draw in the morning while Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan lsot their quarterfinal match in the afternoon.

Priyank Soni made it through to the quarterfinals to be held Saturday April 28 while the doubles team of Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan also moved through the draw to the quarterfinals.
The Pirates' men's tennis team began its final weekend of the season Thursday with five singles players and three doubles teams moving on to day two of the CCCAA State Singles and Doubles Championships at The Ojai. Victories included upset victoies by Rafael Dunan, Augustin Lestelle and Priyank Soni in singles play while Alexander Martin and Jakob Runschen had an upset win in doubles.

Although the Pirates won more games against the Falcons than they did in their March 9 meeting, The Falcons proved once again to be too much for the Pirates (14-2) one step shy of the state championship match.

Rodrigo Perdigao's win in No. 6 singles clinched the match.
VC men's tennis freshman Priyank Soni had quite the day Friday. After a WSC semifinal victory over doubles teammate Adrien Etiemble, he then defeated teammate Cherqui Solal to earn the conference championship in the singles draw. If battling two teammates in two singles matches was not enough, Soni then teammed up with Etiemble in the WSC doubles championship, dropping a marathon contest with multiple match points for both sides.
The Ventura College men's tennis team had little trouble with visiting Saddleback Tuesday i nthe quarterfinal round of the CCCAA Southern California Regional Playoffs, sweeping the Gauchos 5-0 at the VC Tennis Center. The No. 2-seeded Pirates swept through the three doubles matches before winning in Nos. 3 and 5 singles matches, respectively, to advance to the next round.
The Ventura College men's tennis team has earned the No. 2 seed in the CCCAA Southern California Regional team dual playoffs. The Pirates (12-1) will host Saddleback College (10-8) in a regional quarterfinal match on Tuesday April 10. Play is set to begin at 2:00 pm at the VC Tennis Center.

Ventura qualified six players for the CCCAA State Championships at The Ojai in singles while placing three players in the WSC semifinals. In singles, top-seed Solal Cherqui, No. 6-seed Priyank Soni, No. 7-seed Adrien Etiemble and No. 10-seed Augustin Lestelle all advanced to the round of 16 without dropping a game. Meanwhile, in doubles, No. 1-seed Soni and Etiemble moved to the quarters without playing a match and No. 3-seed Cherqui and Rafael Dunan advanced with a shutout.
The Pirates' men's tennis team took their regular season finale in El Cajon Friday 8-1 over host Grossmont College. The Pirates' depth shone through once again with the biggest victories coming at the bottom of the ladder. Rafael Dunan won in No. 5 singles one and love while Rodrigo Perdigao claimed his No. 6 singles match two and love. Alexander Martin and Jakon Rinschen teamed up for an easy win at No. 2 doubles while Dunan paired with Priyank Soni to win in No. 3.
The Pirates' men's tennis team completed yet another undefeated Western State Conference season Tuesday with a 9-0 shutout victory over visiting Bakersfield College. Adrien Tiemble, Rodrigo Perdigao and Alexander Martin all won in singles without giving up a game. Meanwhile, Solal Cherqui and Rafael Dunan, and Martin and Jakob Rinchen won in shutout fashion in doubles for Ventura (11-1, 8-0).
The Ventura College men's tennis team clinched their fourth consecutive Western State Conference championship Tuesday with a weather-shortened 5-1 victory over visiting Los Angeles Pierce College. Augustin Lestelle, Rafael Dunan and Rodrigo Perdigao all won their matches love and love as the Pirates captured the WSC crown for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons and the 15th time since 2001.
