Pirate Tennis Sweeps Bakersfield, 9-0

The Ventura College men's tennis team swept visiting Bakersfield 9-0 Thursday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. The bottom half of the line-up shut out the Renegades as Alexandre Campolina, Thiago Batista and James Moulton swept the Nos. 4, 5, and 6 singles matches, respectively, with identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Batista and doubles partner Charles De La Laurencie also blanked their opponents in No. 2 doubles, 8-0.

Ventura (7-3, 3-2), also was strong on the top half of the singles line up with Antonio Rosales winning in the No. 1 slot, 6-1, 6-1. De La Laurencie won in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Kyle Spiegelman won in No. 3, 6-2, 6-0.

Rosales and Spiegelman won their No. 1 doubles match 8-4 and Jacob Boucher and Eric Rodriguez won in No. 3 doubles, 9-7.

The Pirates travel north on Friday March 15 and Saturday March 16 to play in the North/South Challenge at Fresno City College.
