The Ventura College men's tennis team closed the regular season with an 8-1 victory over Grossmont Friday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. Thiago Batista won in No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Pirates (13-4, 6-2). VC won a pair of doubles matches to take an early 2-1 lead on the Griffins before sweeping through singles play.

The Pirates'men's tennis team completed Western State Conference play by completing a season-sweep of Bakersfield College on the road Thursday afternoon. VC blanked the Renegades 9-0 for the second time this season, led by Antonio Rosales, Kyle Spiegelman and Thiago Batista, all of whom posted love and love vistories in singles play. Rosales and Spiegelman also won their doubles match 8-0 for Ventura (11-4, 5-2).

The Ventura College men's tennis team had the victory in hand before play began at Los Angeles Pierce Tuesday afternoon as the Brahmas only had three players available for their match-up with the Pirates. VC (10-4, 4-2) won five points by default, then won three more on the court for the 8-1 Western State Conference victory. Charles De La Laurencie and James Moulton won in singles while Antonio Rosales and Kyle Spiegelman triumphed in doubles play.

The Ventura College men's tennis team swept visiting Bakersfield 9-0 Thursday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. The bottom half of the line-up shut out the Renegades as Alexandre Campolina, Thiago Batista and James Moulton swept the Nos. 4, 5, and 6 singles matches, respectively, with identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Batista and doubles partner Charles De La Laurencie also shut out their opponents in No. 2 doubles, 8-0.

After multiple re-schedulings, the Pirates' men's tennis team finally faced Santa Babrara City College, coming away with an 8-1 victory at Pershing Park on Tuesday. Thiago Batista highlighted the day with a golden set, producing 24 straight winners in his 6-0, 6-0 victory in No. 5 singles. He then teamed up with Jacob Boucher for an 8-0 win in No. 3 doubles for the Pirates (6-3, 2-2).

James Moulton did not drop a game all day, winning his No. 6 singles match love and love after teaming up with Charles De La Laurencie in No. 3 doubles for an 8-0 win. De La Laurencie also won in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Charles De La Laurencie was Ventura's only double winner, earning two points for VC with a win in No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2, and a victory in No. 3 doubles with partner James Moulton, 8-6. Thiago Batista won a close match in No. 5 singles, 7-5, 603, and the doubles team of Antonio Rosales and Kyle Speigelman won in No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (7-2).

The Ventura College men's tennis team opened up their 2019 season with a big 8-1 victory over visiting Fullerton College Friday afternoon at the VC Tennis Center. Antonio Rosales teamed up with Kyle Spiegelman to prevail in No. 1 doubles, 8-1, before Rosales captured No.1 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Speigelman won in No. 4 singles, love and one. Alexandre Campolina, Thiago Batista and Charles De La Laurencie were also double winners on the day for VC (1-0).
