The VC women's basketball team was well-represented on the 2025-26 Western State Conference North Division women's basketball all-conference team with Kayla Lumas, Olivia Decierdo and Riannah Lopez all earning first team All-WSC accolades. The VC women's basketball team is returning to the postseason after finishing 15-13 during the 2025-26 campaign and 8-4 in Western State Conference play. The Pirates are seeded No. 22 and will travel to No. 11 Long Beach on Wednesday Feb. 25 for a first round match up with the Vikings in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs.

The VC women's basketball team used a decisive fourth-quarter surge and a strong night from Kayla Lumas to pull away for a 55–46 road victory at Oxnard Friday. Clinging to a three-point lead after three quarters, the Pirates closed with a 16–10 advantage in the final 10 minutes to secure the win. Lumas netted 23 points on the night to lead the effort in the regular season finale.

Lopez’s 27 Points Power Ventura Past Cuesta 58-48

Riannah Lopez poured in a game-high 27 points to lead Ventura College to a 58-48 road victory over Cuesta on Saturday as VC broke the game open in the fourth quarter after three tightly contested frames. Trailing 14-12 after the first quarter, the Pirates methodically flipped the game with a 15-point second quarter to take a 27-25 edge into halftime. Ventura maintained its narrow advantage in a defensive-minded third, leading 41-38 heading to the final 10 minutes, before closing with a 17-10 surge in the fourth to pull away for the 10-point win.

VC carried a 13-point advantage into halftime before Santa Barbara closed strong, outscoring Ventura 17-8 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.

Olivia Decierdo again led the Pirates with 22-points, including a 10-14 performance from the free throw line. The VC women's basketball team had a stifling defensive effort Saturday afternoon, defeating Allan Hancock 63-30 in Santa Maria. The Bulldogs were limited to a 16 percent shooting effort by the Pirates as VC held them to single digits in each quarter of play. Olivia Decierdo had a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds, while handing out six assists and grabbing five steals in the contest and Kalya Lumas netted 19 points. Sienna Angell contributed 12 points for Ventura in the triumph.

The Pirates' women's basketball team held a late lead against Los Angeles Trade Tech Saturday, but ultimately fell to the Beavers 66-63 at the Athletic Event Center. Behind a perfect shooting night from Charnelle Nichols, the Pirates' women's basketball team shot its way to a 57-52 victory at Los Angeles Mission Wednesday to open Western State Conference play. Nichols was 6-6 from the floor, 1-1 from three, and 3-3 at the free throw line for 16 points to lead the way. Kayla Lumas netted 17 points and Riannah Lopez scored 12 for Ventura. The Pirates were 19-44 from the floor overall, 43 percent, and 7-17 from three, 41 percent while hitting 75 percent of their free throws, 12-16, in the contest.

VC Women Can't Overcome Early Deficit at Valley

The VC women's basketball team fell behind early Saturday, and were not able to hold the lead after their comeback against the tournament hosts on the final day o fthe Buddy's All-Star Classic at Los Angeles Valley. The led 42-41 early in the fourth quarter, but the Monarchs were able to retake control down the stretch. Riannah Lopez scored 13 points to lead Ventura and Sofia Salgado added 11 to the effort. Kayla Lumas and Sienna Angell each pulled in seven rebounds in the contest.

WBB Falls on Second Day of LAVC Tourney

The VC women's basketball team held a lead after one quarter gaainst San Francisco Friday before falling to the Rams on the second day of the Buddy's All-Star Classic at Los Angeles Valley. Charnelle Nichols led the effort for the second night in a row with 10 points while Riannah Lopezand Kayla Lumas each scored seven points. Sienna Angell grabbed a team-best eight rebounds and Nichols added seven boards.

Women's Basketball Falls in Buddy's Opener

The VC women's basketball team fell to Mt. San Antonio Thursday in the opening round of the Buddy's All-Star Classic at Los Angeles Valley College. Charnelle Nichols was the only VC player in double figures with 10 points while Kayla Lumas and Olivia Decierdo each netted nine. Decierdo also added five steals to the VC effort.

The Ventura College women's basketball team rolled to a 67-43 win at El Camino Wednesday evening in Torrance. Olivia Decierdo had 16 points with eight rbounds and four assists to lead the effort for VC while Riannah Lopez scored 15. Kalya Lumas and Sofia Salgado each netted 13 points in the balanced attack for the victory.

Lumas Drops 30 to Lead Ventura Comeback

Pirate freshman Kayla Lumas dropped 30 points, 28 in the second half, to lead the VC women's basketball team to a 57-52 comeback victory over East Los Angeles Saturday at Oxnard College to close the Kiwanis Crossover. Lumas was 9-10 from the floor, including a 3-pointer, and 9-9 from the free throw line to bring Ventura back from a 26-11 halftime deficit. She also secured a team-best six rebounds and grabbed a pair of steals in the win.

The VC women's basketball team had a big start and a strong finish Friday night, defeating Santa Monica 63-34 on the opening day of the Kiwanis Crossover at the Athletic Event Center. Sienna Angell sank five 3-pointers to score 15 points for VC to lead the way and Charnelle Nichols also netted 15 in the victory. Olivia Decierdo handed out seven assists and pulled in nine rebounds in the effort for the Pirates (3-3).

Sofia salgado led the way for Ventura with 19 points while Kayla Lumas produced a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Sienna Angell contributed eight points and Olivia Decierdo netted six with four assists.
