Prospects looked good in the opening period for the Pirates. Olivia Decierdo's bucket at the 4:22 mark put Ventura ahead 11-10 and Nichols followed that up with a 3-pointer on the next possession. Angell's triple tied the score at 18 before Lumas hit a pair of free throws and Angell scored another deuce for a 22-18 Pirate lead at the quarter break.
Unfortunately, the good fortune did not continue for the Pirates as CCSF took charge early in the second quarter and pulled away in the Pirate setback.
Ventura will take on tournament hosts LA Valley on Saturday Dec. 13 at 11:00 am in the weekend finale.
