The Ventura College golfers Michael Ray and Nick Burns both qualified for the CCCAA State Championships in play at the Southern California Regionals on Monday at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills. The Pirates shot a team score of 781 to place seventh of the nine teams to complete their team season.
The Ventura College golf team struggled through the 36-hole Western State Conference Championships Monday at Ojai's Soule Park Golf Course. The Pirates shot a 397 in the morning round, coming in fifth place among the nine conference teams, and carded a 386 in the afternoon, placing fourth. Overall, Ventura shot a 783 to come in fifth place for the day. Mason Teron led VC with a 3-over 147, placing in a tie for eighth place overall, earning All-WSC honors.
The Pirate golf team fell to a fourth place finish Monday in the Western State Conference match hosted by Glendale College at Oakmont Country Club. Nick Burns and Kaden Santos went low for Ventura, both shooting a 7-over par 79. Santa Barbara won the match with a team score of 381 followed by Canyons at 387, Glendale at 391, and VC with a 405.
The Pirate golf team continued to score in third place Monday at the Western State Conference event hosted by Citrus College at San Dimas Canyon Golf Club. VC shot a team score of 395 to finish in third place of the nine conference teams for the sixth time in eight outings. Mason Teron went low for the Pirates carding a 3-over 75, good for a tie for sixth place overall.
VC freshman Michael Ray shot a 1-under par 71 to tie for fourth place overall on Monday as the Pirate golf team carded a team score of 383, good for ninth place in the 16-team Southern California Preview Tournament at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills. Mason Teron shot an even par 72 as Ventura was just one shot over their low score of the season.
In the high desert of Victorville, the Ventura College golf team found ideal conditions once again, turning in their best performance of the season with a team score of 382 in the Western State Conference No 7 hosted by Victor Valley College. Five Pirates shot in the 70's, led by Michael Ray's 2-over 74 on the par-72 Spring Valley Lake Country Club course. Canyons won the event with a team score fo 361 followed by runner-up Santa Barbara with a 370.
The Pirates' golf team battled difficult windy conditions at the par-72 Santa Maria Country Club course on Monday, placing third at the Western State Conference No. 5 hosted by Allan Hancock College. The Pirates carded a team score of 398, behind Canyons at 387 and Santa Barbara at 389. Freshman Nick Burns tied for fourth place overall with a 2-over 74 while Mason Teron and Jake Yasutake each shot 79.
The Ventura College golf team fell to Northern California powerhouse reedley College Friday afternoon in a dual match played at the par-72 Hunter ranch Golf Club in Paso Robles. The Pirates carded a team score of 399 compared to the 369 posted by the Tigers. Michael Ray led Ventura with a 3-over 75 and Nick Burns shot a 4-over 77.
Mason Teron shot a 2-over 74 to claim individual medalist honors, and Nick Burns was second with a 76 as the Pirate golf team won the Western State Conference event No. 2 hosted by Santa Barbara at Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Solvang on Monday. Ventura posted a team core of 392 to finish three shots ahead of SBCC with Canyons coming in third at 398.
The Pirates' golf team placed third of the nine Western State Conference teams at the WSC-Bakersfield event Monday at the par-72 Bakersfield Country Club Course. Ventura turned in a team score of 403, just three strokes behind second place College of the Canyons at 400. Santa Barbara won the event with a team score of 386. Nick Burns led VC with a 6-over 78, followed closely by Michael Ray at 79.
