On the final day of competition in the Covid-shortened 2021 season, the Ventura College golf team battled Antelope Valley in a two-man best ball format at the "Western State Conference Championships" held at Ventura's Olivas Links Golf Course. The Pirate duo of Steen Zeman and Kaden Santos won the event with a 3-under 69 followed by Evan Colborn and Joshua Calderon who carded a 1-under 71.
The Ventura College golf team shot a season-best 373, defeating Antelope Valley in the Western State Conference No. 5 event at Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura on Wednesday. Steen Zeman and Eric Burschinger were the low Pirates, each carding a 1-over 73.
With limited competition in the Western State Conference in this Covid-shortened 2021 season, the VC golf team traveled to Riverside on Monday to play in the Riverside Invitational featuring Eight Orange Empire Conference teams. The Pirates posted a score of 398, good for sixth place overall in the event. Evan Colburn shot a 2-over 74 at Canyon Crest Country Club to place in a tie for ninth place overall.
Steen Zeman shot a 1-under 71 and Aaron Friedland was just two stroke behind to lead the Pirate golf team to a big win over host Antelope Valley Wednesday in a dual Western State Conference competition. VC shot a solid 383 as a team to easily defeat the Marauders, who posted a 435, at the par-72 Antelope Valley Country Club in Palmdale.
Evan Colborn and Aaron Friedland each shot a 1-over 73 Monday, and Steen Zeman turned in a 2-over 74 to lead the Ventura College golf team past Antelope Valley Monday at he River Ridge Golf Course, Victoria Lakes Course. The Pirates carded a team total of 380 to defeat the visiting Marauders, who scored 421. Allan Hancock College also competed, but did not field enough players for a team score.
It wasn't exactly a huge competition, but six VC golfers and two players from Allan Hancock College teed up on Monday at Santa Maria Country Club in the Pirate golf team's first competition in over a year. Evan Colborn shot a 5-over 77 to lead the way for Ventura and Ryan Gonzalez made his debut for the orange and black with a score of 79.
