Smith leads large contingent of Pirates on All-WSC squad

Ventura College's Jerimiyah Smith was named the Western State Conference North Division Most Outstanding Player for the 2025-26 season, leading a contingent of six Pirates on the all-conference squad. Snookey Wigington, Baron Bellamy and Kam'Ron Cigar joined Smith with first team All-WSC honors while Jeremiah Wilson and Kevin Anigbogu both received honorable mention nods. Acting head coach Kane Daniels was name dthe WSC North Coach of the Year.

Cold Shooting Slows Ventura in Playoff Loss

Hosting the 3C2A Southern California Regional Finals for the first time in 18 years, the VC men's basketball team's cold shooting proved too much to overcome in their 67-59 playoff loss to San Diego City. Jerimiyah Smith led the way for VC with a double-double, totaling 14 points and 12 rebounds while Kam’Ron Cigar provided an additional offensive lift, matching Smith with 14 points and adding four rebounds.

Cigar’s 33-Point Night Fuels Ventura’s Second-Half Surge Past ELAC

Behind a 33-point effort from sophomore Kam'Ron Cigar, the VC men's basketball team used a dominant second-half surge to pull away from East Los Angeles, turning a halftime deadlock into a 91–73 home victory Saturday in the second round of the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs. The No. 4-seeded Pirates outscored the Huskies 53–35 over the final 20 minutes behind an efficient scoring performance from Cigar and double-doubles from Snookey Wigington and Jerimiyah Smith.

The Pirates' men's basketball team has earned the No. 4 seed in the 3C2A Southern California Regional Playoffs. They will have a first round bye and host the winner of No. 13 East Los Angeles and No. 20 Santa Ana on Saturday Feb. 28 at the Athletic Event Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm. The Huskies and Dons will play on Wednesday Feb. 25 at East LA.

Pirates Secure WSC Title with Rout in Oxnard

The Pirates' men's basketball team used a blistering shooting display and a dominant effort on the glass to pull away from Oxnard for a 110-82 road victory on Friday reclaiming outright the Western State Conference North Division title. Baron Bellamy scored 23 points to lead five Pirates in double-figures in the balanced offensive attack in the triumph.

The VC men's basketball team dropped a razor-close 78-77 decision against Allan Hancock Wednesday in the Pirates' regular season home finale. Jerimiyah Smith scored 25 points with 11 rebounds and Snookey Wigington posted 23 points with four boards and four assists to lead the effort for the Pirates, who remain alone in first place in the Western State Conference standings with one game left to play.

The VC men's basketball team rode a dominant first-half surge and a highly efficient shooting performance to a 114-101 road victory over Cuesta on Saturday in San Luis Obispo. Jerimiyah Smith had an outstanding performance with 28 points, 14 rebounds and six assists to lead the way while Kam'Ron Cigar totaled 24 points in the triumph.

The VC men's basketball team built a big first-half cushion and then leaned on efficient shooting and timely stops late to secure a 93-83 home win over Santa Barbara on Saturday. Jerimiyah Smith led five Pirates in double figures with 22 points while Snookey Wigington and Kam'Ron Cigar each totaled 17. Kevin Anigbogu and baron Bellamy netted 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Ventura Rallies Past Moorpark 90-85 Behind Smith, Wigington

The Ventura College men's basketball team used a dominant second half and a pair of 26-point performances from Jerimiyah Smith and Snookey Wigington to rally past Moorpark 90-85 on Wednesday. The Pirates erased a four-point halftime deficit, outscoring the Raiders 47-38 after the break to secure the five-point road win. Kevin Anigbogu and Baron Bellamy contributed 13 and 12 points, respectively, in the match up of the top two teams in the Western State Conference North Division.

VC Men Roll Brahmas 124-79

The Pirates' men's basketball team had little trouble with visiting Los Angeles Pierce Saturday, rolling the Brahmas 124-79 at the Athletic Event Center. The Pirates had six players score in double figures, led by Snookey Wigington's 20 points, and another three players scored nine points. Jerimiah Smith netted 18 for Ventura in the triumph while Kevin Anigbogu, Baron Bellamy and Jeremiah Wilson all totaled an even dozen. Dabe Princewill had 10 points for VC.

The VC men's basketball team used a 55-point second half to rally past Oxnard 90-81 Wednesday for their 11th straight victory and sixth straight in Western State Conference play. Snookey Wigington put together another strong effort with 22 points while Jerimiyah Smith and Kam'Ron Cigar added 17 and 14, respectively. Gaston Zumaya came off the bench to record 10 points in the triumph as the No. 8-ranked Pirates completed an undefeated first round of WSC play.

VC Men Come Back to Clip Hancock in Overtime

The VC men's basketball team came back from a halftime deficit before defeating Hancock 85-81 in overtime Saturday afternoon in Santa Maria. Snookey Wigington scored a season-high 33 points, including 11 in the extra period, and handed out five assists while Jerimiyah Smith scored 22 points with 12 rebounds in the effort for the Pirates. Baron Bellamy added 11 points and seven boards in the triumph for the state No. 8-ranked Pirates (18-3, 5-0).

VC Runs Away from Cuesta, Wins 112-83

The Pirates' men's basketball team ran away from visiting Cuesta, defeating the Cougars 112-83 Wednesday at the Athletic Event Center. Kam'Ron Cigar led another balanced VC attack with 22 points and Jerimiyah Smith netted 21 points with nine rebounds. Jeremiah Wilson totaled 16 points while Snookey Wigington tallied 15 points with nine assists. Kevin Anigbogu was the fifth Pirate in double-figures with 13 points.

Pirates Continue Roll at Santa Barbara

The VC men's basketball continued to roll through the Western State Conference with a 93-74 victory at Santa Barbara Wednesday. Baron Bellamy led five players in double figures with 19 points with Jerimiyah Smith and Jeremiah Wilson each scoring 18. Snookey Wigington had 15 points and Kevin Anigbogu netted 13. Smith completed a double-double with 10 rebounds and Wigington dropped eight dimes in the contest.

Ventura Pulls Away From Moorpark in Second Half for Win

The VC men's basketball team pulled away from visiting Moorpark in the second half to post an 84-72 victory over the Raiders Saturday at the Athletic Event Center. Kam'Ron Cigar led the way for VC (15-3, 2-0) with 21 points while Snookey Wigington netted 15 points while handing out nine assists. Jerimiyah Smith posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds and Baron Bellamy recorded 12 points in the triumph.

The VC men's basketball team used a 21-4 run midway through the first half to take control of the game, capturing their Western State Conference opener 85-60 at Los Angeles Pierce Wednesday. Jerimiyah Smith led five players in double-figures with 17 points and 12 rebounds and Snookey Wigington produced a double-double of 14 points and 12 assists to lead VC (14-3, 1-0). Kam'Ron Cigar, Dabe Princewill and Jeremiah Wilson scored 14, 11 and 10 points respectively.

Kevin Anigbogu and Snookey Wigington tallied 13 and 12 points, respectively, and Baron Bellamy netted eight in the win for Ventura (13-3).

The VC men's basketball team captured a victory in a battle of Top-20 teams Tuesday afternoon at the Athletic Event Center as the No. 16-ranked Pirates defeated No. 20 Sequoias, 78-76. Kam'Ron Cigar led four players in double-figures with 21 points and Jerimiyah Smith totaled 20 with 10 rebounds. Snookey Wigington netted 18 points in the game and Baron Bellamy contributed 13 in the victory for Ventura (12-3).

Three 20-point scorers lead VC past Long Beach

Ventura's Jerimiyah Smith, Snookey Wigington and Kam'Ron Cigar all had 20-point nights Friday leading the Pirates past Long Beach 102-84 on the road. VC shot 62 percent from the floor and made 86 percent of their 36 free throw attempts to pass the century mark against the Vikings. Kevin Anigbogu and Smith each pulled in a team-best six rebounds and Wigington handed out eight assists in the victory for the Pirates (11-3).

Men's Basketball Wins at Compton

The VC men's basketball team continued its strong season Wednesday with an 83-65 victory at Compton. Jerimiyah Smith had another outstanding performance with 23 points on 9-11 shooting from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers. Kam'Ron Cigar scored 14 points and Jeremiah Wilson netted 13. Snookey Wigington recorded nine points and handed out six assists in the victory for the Pirates (10-3).

The VC men's basketball team fell in the first half at Bakersfield Thursday before coming back in the second half and winning in overtime against the Renegades, 96-93. Jerimiyah Smith had another stellar night scoring 40 points on just 17 field goal attempts, adding 13 rebounds. Snookey Wigington added 21 points and eight assists while Kam'Ron Cigar netted 13 points in the victory.

The VC men's basketball team fell behind during a first half run by Riverside Saturday, and fought the rest o fthe way against the Tigers before falling 78-72 in the Hypland Classic at RCC. Snookey Wigington scored a season-best 31 points while Jerimiyah Smith and Baron Bellamy each recorded double-doubles with 15 points and 14 rebounds, and 10 points and 10 rebounds, respectively.

The VC men's basketballteam fell behind early and could never make up ground Thursday, falling to San Bernardino Valley 73-67 on the second day of the Hypland Classic at Riverside City College. Kam'Ron Cigar led VC (8-2) with 19 points while Jerimiyah Smit scored 14 with seven rebounds. Snookey Wigington netted 10 points with three assists and three steals in the setback.

Men's Basketball Comes From Behind to Defeat MSJC

The VC men's basketball team came back from as much as a 16-point deficit early in the second half to defeat Mt. San Jacinto 84-78 Wednesday in their opening game of the Hypland Classic at Riverside City College. The Pirates trailed by 10 points with 5:47 remaining in the game before closing the contest with a 24-6 run against the Eagles. Jerimiyah Smith continued his hot streak with 31 points and 14 rebounds while Snookey Wigington had 14 points with 10 assists and five steals in the victory.

Pirate Men Easily Sink Corsairs

The VC men's basketball team brought out the long range guns Wednesday, sinking Santa Monica with a barrage of 3-pointers, easily defeating the Corsairs 102-67 at the Athletic Event Center. The Pirates (7-1) hit 15 of 32 shots from beyond the arc, nearly a 47 percent clip, including five in the opening 10 minutes of the game. Jerimiyah Smith was 8-9 from the floor en route to a game-high 22 points for VC and Kam'Ron Cigar was 3-5 from three in scoring 16.

The VC men's basketball team moved to 6-1 on the young season with an 80-64 victory over Lemoore Saturday to close the Milt Stowe Classic at Porterville College. Jerimiyah Smith had another big game with 28 points and 11 rebounds while Christian Aukuso also produced a double-double with 17 points and 10 boards. Snookey Wigington netted 13 points with eight assists and Tong Tong tallied 11 with seven boards in the victory.

The VC men's basketball team outscored host Porterville 20-7 in the final 7:43 of the game Friday to defeat the Pirates of the Central Valley 73-60 on the first day of the Milt Stowe Classic. Jeremiyah Smith netted 25 points in the game while Snookey Wigington and Christian Aukuso scored 14 and 12 points, respectively in the victory. Tong Tong grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

It took two extra periods of play, but the Pirates' men's basketball team finally put away Los Angeles Southwest in the second overtime, posting a 122-114 victory Tuesday at the Athletic Event Center. Baron Bellamy had had 36 points to lead VC (4-1) and Jerimiyah Smith netted 29 wit the game-tying charity shot with two seconds in regulation time. Christian Aukuso had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.

Jermiah Wilson netted 26 points and Christian Aukuso dropped 23 with 10 boards to lead the way for the Pirates (3-0). Jerimiyah Smith also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Snookey Wigington recorded 12 poinst with nine assists.
